Happy Memorial Day weekend everybody! I hope it's relaxing, fun, and productive for everybody ;)
Major thanks to the vets out there and the families of vets! My grandpa's are both vets but that was long before I came around. I can't imagine what some of my friends have gone through having their loved ones deployed, or being the ones deployed.
We've been quite busy this weekend, like most weekends recently! The girls went to their first baseball game this weekend. Quite the noteworthy event since we love baseball so much. We made sure to stop by the guest relations office at Kaufman and get their certificates for their baby books. More than enjoying the baseball game I think the girls enjoyed the stadium food! They got their first taste of a hot dog (which the loved), ate part of a pretzel, and even got some ice cream. They last 7 innings before the lack of a nap started to show. Neither threw a fit but the heads were getting very heavy. As Scott put it, Charlie looked like a bobble head as my Dad held her, the poor girl was too tired to keep her head up! My parents went with us to the game which was part of our genius plan to help the girls last longer. Luckily they love baseball too and love their granddaughters even more! It was an enjoyable experience for all of us.
The last couple of weekends we've had graduation parties to go to which are always fun to catch up with people at. Saturday was my cousin Blair's and the girls just loved him and his friends! They kept a close eye on us making sure one of us was close, and occasionally had to retreat to our arms but we were surprised at how quick they took to Blair. Not that he's a bad guy at all but the girls definitely have a "look, don't touch" policy when it comes to people! They're social butterflies and will give out the smiles as long as they are in familiar arms. Typical for their age though so we're not concerned.
Since we bought our house it's been a lot of work trying to fix it up and make it ours. It wasn't a terrible house when we bought it but there were a lot of issues to work through. As with most homes purchased, it's a work in progress... This weekend was a major work day on the landscaping. Scott had put some serious effort into getting rid of the MONSTER rose bushes (yes, two grown together) in front of the living room window. Then came the process of sifting through the rocks, glass, and trash in the area. In case it wasn't previously mentioned, there was a fire 2 years ago in our house, it sat vacant after the fire and then was gutted/rehabbed by bank who owned it. So when the fire happened all the windows were smashed and stuff was thrown from the house. A large part of that junk collected in the front landscaping and the yard. We're putting a lot of time it to get rid of everything to make it look nice and for it to be safe for the girls. There's too much glass right now for them to be around it. This weekend though we made major progress and even bought some plants. Yay for landscaping! Now I just have to find a fountain for Scott... Oy.
I realize I didn't talk about the girls too much here, don't worry, there's another post coming soon. I meant to put something up last week when they hit 13 months but I'll do it this week :)
